The Audi A6 e-tron has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The EC40 doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

Earlier warning of stopped traffic, traffic signals, dangerous road conditions, weather, or accidents, can keep driver's safer and prevent crashes. The A6 e-tron has Car-to-X Services, a system that seamlessly communicates important warnings to the driver about impending danger, if they're available. The EC40 doesn’t offer a system that can receive automated systems from infrastructure or other vehicles.

Both the A6 e-tron and the EC40 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

There are over 9 percent more Audi dealers than there are Volvo dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the A6 e-tron’s warranty.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2025 Auto Issue reports that Audi vehicles are more reliable than Volvo vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Audi 8 places higher in reliability than Volvo.

The A6 e-tron’s standard electric motor produces 127 more horsepower (375 vs. 248) and 118 lbs.-ft. more torque (428 vs. 310) than the EC40’s standard electric motor. The A6 e-tron Quattro’s standard electric motors produces 54 more horsepower (456 vs. 402) and 137 lbs.-ft. more torque (631 vs. 494) than the EC40’s optional electric motors.

The A6 e-tron has a standard locking charge port which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The EC40 doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

The A6 e-tron’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The EC40 doesn’t offer launch control.

For better traction and acceleration, the A6 e-tron has larger standard rear tires than the EC40 (255/50R19 vs. 235/45R20). The A6 e-tron’s rear tires are larger than the largest rear tires available on the EC40 (265/40R20 vs. 235/45R20).

The A6 e-tron’s 265/40R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the EC40’s optional 45 series tires.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the A6 e-tron can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The EC40 doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

The A6 e-tron offers an available driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads. The EC40’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The A6 e-tron Prestige has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The A6 e-tron’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The EC40 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the A6 e-tron’s wheelbase is 9.7 inches longer than on the EC40 (116.1 inches vs. 106.4 inches).

The A6 e-tron Prestige handles at .88 G’s, while the EC40 Ultimate pulls only .82 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The A6 e-tron has .5 inches more front legroom, 1.5 inches more front shoulder room, .9 inches more rear headroom and 1 inch more rear shoulder room than the EC40.

The A6 e-tron has a much larger cargo volume than the EC40 with its rear seat up (26 vs. 15 cubic feet).

The A6 e-tron Premium Plus/Prestige has a standard heads-up display that projects speed, navigation instruction and driver assistance information readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The EC40 doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the A6 e-tron has standard extendable sun visors. The EC40 doesn’t offer extendable visors.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the A6 e-tron Premium Plus/Prestige keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The EC40 doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The Audi A6 e-tron has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the rear view mirror. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. Homelink® is only available on the EC40 Plus/Ultimate.

The A6 e-tron Premium Plus/Prestige’s Park Assist Plus can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The EC40 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
